The legend of Sheriff Snoot

Deep in the Sherwood woods, where the pines grow crooked, lived a scruffy dog with the biggest nose anyone had ever seen.

He could smell rain two valleys away. He could smell a fib before it was told. Mostly, he could smell fear.

Whenever a paper hand panicked and ran, Snoot caught the scent. So the woodsfolk pinned a tin star on his vest and called him Sheriff.

The outlaws put his face on a WANTED poster. He nailed it up himself, right where everyone could see it.
